Alamogordo Daily News - Qwest officials drop Supreme Court challenge:
SANTA FE -- Public Regulation Commission Chairman Ben R. Lujan publicly thanked Qwest officials Tuesday for dropping their Supreme Court challenge, and vowed to proceed as quickly as possible on consideration of a proposed settlement.
"We asked Qwest to consider withdrawing their request for reconsideration, and they did," Lujan said. "And now, we need to act."
The PRC is expected to set a hearing schedule next week to consider a $265 million settlement offer, which would end an ongoing dispute between the company and the PRC regarding a $220 million shortfall in Qwest's required investment in New Mexico.
