Pervasive corruption in state government is bad for the economy and reform must be a top business priority, says a statewide business lobbying group.
"It is time for the business community to take an active leadership role in putting an end to an ugly pattern of pervasive corruption within state government that is both outrageous and egregious," the Association of Commerce and Industry said in a report set to be released today, evaluating government performance.
"Business is getting just as fed up with the game-playing as with ethics issues," Anita Williams, who chaired the committee that produces the Focus Report, said in a joint interview Wednesday with association president John A. Carey.
