The Journal's Trip Jennings reported yesterday what you may have already figured out if you were anxiously checking out the secretary of state's candidate finance reporting page--most candidates and elected officials haven't filed yet.
According to Jennings, the Sec. of State's "new computerized system intended to make it easier for the public to see where politicians get their money and how they spend it. But, despite three years to prepare for this day, the secretary of state's Web site won't be equipped to handle such searches for months, say representatives of the secretary's office and the company contracted to do the work."----ABQjournal: Campaign Report System Held Up
I don't have enough time this morning to go into depth, but this is the kind of failure that cannot be tolerated, regardless of the excuses. Transparency starts with ease of use.
