Sen. Kent Cravens, R-Albuquerque, spent $900 during the 2005 session for rent on an RV park in Santa Fe for a mobile home. He said he didn't know about the prohibition on living expenses during a session.Rep. Daniel Foley, R-Roswell, spent $479 in campaign money on propane to heat a travel trailer he used during the session. He also said he did not know about the ban on spending campaign money for session living expenses.Sen. Timothy Jennings, D-Roswell, and Senate President Pro Tem Ben Altamirano, D-Silver City, used campaign funds to pay for dry cleaning.Altamirano also spent $336 on dog care expenses while attending the Legislature.Sens. Joseph Fidel, D-Grants, and Carlos Cisneros, D-Questa, and Rep. Fred Luna, D-Los Lunas, paid family members for campaign or legislative work.Luna said he does not believe that creates a problem, and that he has family members sign employment contracts. He paid $1,500 each to a son and daughter and $500 to his wife.Luna said his wife answers telephone calls for him. He said his son and daughter help primarily with constituent services, answering letters and reporting on constituents' problems and concerns.Fidel paid $1,800 to a son for computer work and $200 to a daughter for clerical work.Cisneros paid his wife $1,410 for accounting services.
