Two APD Officers Quit After Inquiries
By Jeff Proctor
Journal Staff Writer
Two Albuquerque Police officers have resigned rather than be fired for improperly using force against civilians, then lying about it to their superiors during investigations, authorities said.
The resignations— both during the past week— stem from separate incidents reported to the Police Oversight Commission in the form of citizen complaints.
Police Chief Ray Schultz would not name the officers, saying that the oversight system does not disclose identities because officers are not accused of committing a crime.
WHaah? First of all, why weren't they charged with crimes? Second of all, so what? The public deserves to know who these officers were and if the city is still facing legal action as a result of their behavior, then we definitely deserve to know who they are. Allen Hancock? The process will continue.
