College Republicans Practice Disenfranchisement Early?
Conflict threatens group's elections - Daily Lobo - News:
by Christopher Sanchez
Officer elections for the College Republicans may not run as smoothly as planned Monday.
Bob Cornelius, a member of the College Republicans, said he will stop the organization from holding officer elections if his voice is not heard.
"We'll filibuster the election if we cannot get a fair election and have both sides discuss the rules fairly," Cornelius said. "College Republicans will cease to exist before it's all over with."
He said students are going to be turned away from voting and running in the election because the party's president, Phara Forsythe, will decide who is eligible and she does not have records on minutes or attendance to prove who is part of the organization, he said.

Two APD Officers Quit After Inquiries

Two Albuquerque Police officers have resigned rather than be fired for improperly using force against civilians, then lying about it to their superiors during investigations, authorities said. The resignations— both during the past week— stem from separate incidents reported to the Police Oversight Commission in the form of citizen complaints. Police Chief Ray Schultz would not name the officers, saying that the oversight system does not disclose identities because officers are not accused of committing a crime. In both cases, Schultz and Independent Review Officer Jay Rowland agreed that the officers were out of line in using the level of force they did and that they were not truthful during internal and external investigations.
